Flip's sake man.
This was my thought (out right- so more of a declaration) as I walked away from the chantecaille counter when they told me their cult tinted moisturiser did not come in my shade.
I shan't go off on one but I'll certainly share my experience. Since discovering makeup I have never had any real difficulty finding my shade, the correct shade that doesn't make me look dusty. This is because my older sister and cousin refused to let me make the same mistakes they did when it came to foundations and I am forever grateful to them for that (cheers ladies).
However, this was a MAC foundation and I used it religiously (studio fix powder NC50 if you wanna know) for years until I became an inquisitive madam eager to try out other brands and proper liquid foundation like I'd seen my sister and cousin use.
This is when the problems started. The MAC shade I was in in the powder was no where NEAR the same as the liquid, making me look red and really dark. The juxtaposition between my neck shade and face shade was so stark on several occasions I'd rush to the loos armed with a wad of tissues Id begin to remove my makeup tout suite.
I have since found okayish matches for my shade from other brands, but these are all high end products as I don't seem to match the alabastar or treacle coloured offerings from the drugstore brands...I'm looking at you bourgois, rimmel, collection2000...
But as mentioned, even the high end brands fail to cater to my needs. I guess my cauldron will never go unused as long as I'm mixing bases to create a potion that matches my skin. I'm not after an EXACT match just one that isn't so stark.
Not so much to ask.
Is it?
